I shall be riding from Hoek van Holland to Eastern Czech Republic through Germany this summer on my Harley Davidson Freewheeler Milwaukee 8. It is around 1,000 km and I plan to split it over 3days/2 nights so around 350 km/day. I would like a combination of quiet motorways and countryside avoiding massive truck traffic if possible, avoiding big cities. We do this journey often by car but I have never done it in the saddle. Any recommendations or advice would be welcomed, particularly across Germany.
Hi Christopher,
I have drawn a quick map of a possible route here
With a route like this, it is always going to be a bit of a compromise. There are many nice roads and places to visit but many of them require you to take a slight diversion and take a lot of smaller twistier roads so in the end this can take a lot of extra time.
Please note that my route is not exact but is mostly good but feel free to modify it as needed.
Good luck!
David
Dave. I really appreciate your input on this. This is pretty similar to the route I take by car. Is there any way of seeing the distance and time from the map you drew or will I need to re plot in route planner? Thanks again. Christopher
Hmm, good point. I think you just found a new feature request for the new forum!
So, no, unfortunately at the moment you can't see much apart from the line. Sorry about that!
I hope it is useful anyway, other feature suggestions welcome.
Hi again Christopher,
I have just updated the forum code so now it is possible to download the gpx file for the map
You should see a link under the map.
I hope this is a useful feature.
David
