Given that this road goes such a long distance it's hard to rate it in the 'average' 'good' 'very nice' ratings, as some of it falls in these categories, where some if it is straight, boring, 4 lane slab. Anything west of Clarksburg is pretty boring, with decent scenery. Clarksburg to Grafton is ok. Nothing to write home about, but it's 2 lanes. Grafton to Claysville is the most entertaining and pretty part of this route, in WV, though you do go through MD, for a bit. Ridgeville to the border near Capon Bridge is pretty good looking, but definitely more cruiser/tourer oriented. The videos of mine below are from a part of 50 that is between Route 72 and Route 24. It's probably the most entertaining part of this road, twisties-wise, though between Routes 42 and 93 is good, as well. There's plenty more videos like this of this area at www.youtube.com/AkumuX
Chillicothe Ohio to Winchester VIrginia. Chillicothe to Albany pleasant country backroad. Athens to Clarksburg WV is fairly boring 4 lane highway. Nice mountain scenery, though. From Clarksburg to Winchester is a terrific ride on a two lane road through the mountains. LOTS of curves, climbs and dives. Gorgeous scenery, mostly good road surface. Special mention to the Yamaha shop in Romney WV. Super service and excellent prices. They made a breakdown as easy to deal with as possible. Romney was a pleasant town. Clarksburg to the Virginia state line was just a lot of fun. Well worth riding again
