"Not as fast as the N260 from Sort to la Seu durgell but 100 times the number of bends and the scenery is far more interesting one minute you have a valley floor 4,000 feet below you , a few minutes later you have some serious hills 5,000 feet above you , Plenty of places to stop for a break as you will need it. But you will need to read the road as few corners have the obligatory speed limit to give some idea how sharp they are. However when you get to the end you need to stop and spend 30 minutes over a drink just to rewind in your mind what you have just experienced. The road would be more than enough for most people but combine it with the scenery and everything else it is mind blowing. I videoed it as i have done many routes but who would be interested in watching 3-4 hours of roads disappearing from one side to the other, I am sure everyone would be seasick before the end. I recommended this route to a couple of friends before actually doing it myself and they both said forget the n260 this is the new road to do." See More ...

"I think this is the highest mountain pass in the area, just over 1,900m and it gets quite cold at top, nice views when its not misty.

The road surface is good & wide, and as you can imagine with a mountain pass lots of corners. Was quite wet when i went along here in late May 08 but still worth it for scenery.

Places of interest on the way is (not sure of name, in English is something like Valley of the Dead) Church where Franco is burried (bit of a controversial place, in Spain, as Franco built it using soldiers captured during the civil war, a lot of whom died making the place) then onto El Escorial, burrial place of all Spanish royalty, impressive building." "Very nice road for views and just a plesant ride amongst the forests as you climb higher and higher and then down opposite side of valley, was being resurfaced late May 08. Gets a bit chilly at top, think pass is about 1,700m (quite high)." See More ...

"Pedraza is an interesting little place to visit, if you use the back roads north of the main road you get some very nice views plus the roads are very quiet with a decent surface." See More ...

Salamanca to La Alberca (Extremadura, Spain)

"The road initially out of Salamanca is pretty ordinary but as you get toward La Alberca you climb into the mountains, then just south of La Alberca there is a quick decent with lots of bends, lots of zig zags down, with great view from the top onto the road below (nice photo).

If you are heading south from Salamanca id recommend this as a diversion." See More ...
