Not to be confused with the South Florida city of the same name, Flamingo is the National Parks Station at the southern-most point in the Florida Everglades. You access Flamingo on Ingraham Highway out of Florida City and it's a 47 mile trek down to the Station. There is a $5 fee to enter Everglades National Park and Ingraham is a dead end; in and out on the same road. There are many side roads off the main drag and you really need to try each and every one. Trust me...there's something spectacular at the end of each, but they'll all circle back on Ingraham. Some of these off roads will be gravel and/or unimproved pavement; you're call on proceeding down those but so you know, I've done it on a Harley Sportster so it's not like they're single track. You can easily make a day riding this route. At the end there's a Visitors Station and a convenience store. Take your camping gear if you'd like as there's a camping area just past the station at Flamingo. This is an awesome day to tack on your way back from the Florida Keys. This is one of the greatest National Parks in the Country; it's to enjoy and appreciate. Don't take your loud pipe pieces of crap in there and don't try to outrun the rangers with your extended swingarm sport bikes...there's no where to go.
