Like the prior poster said, this road can get busy, and a bit frustrating if drivers won't let you by. It's also worth pointing out the CHP does do enforcement on this road, and there are places where it's terribly tempting to wick it up - particularly around Boonville and Cloverdale - where doing so could earn a performance award. Restraint can be a better choice in these areas. You get a great mix of California scenery here with some damp areas of coastal redwoods, and some hot, dry oak savannah. It's all gorgeous. This road is very rewarding, and a fun way to get to and from the Mendocino coast - if you're not traveling at peak times. At peak times, such as holiday weekends, it will be a bit slow. Time to hit the coast range goat trails instead.
A busy but nice motorcycle route. The mountain landscape gives some great panoramic views and there are occasional twisty sections to keep the corner addicts happy. Best avoided at peak times as it can be busy but well worth a look early in the morning.
