A nice bit of road but on a GS or simmilar try some of the more narrow roads over the moors around Hawes Not as fast but definatley more of a challenge and better scenery
Took this road by accident on my way from Bradford to Scotland. Was pleasantly surprised by the road, its curves and scenery. The only downside was the Sunday traffic. Been away from motorcycling for a couple of years and this was my reintroduction, with an eight hour ride home from Scotland to Cambridgeshire was a trauma, but in a good way.
jeremy clarksons favorite road in the country, spectacular views and also the buttertubs (a landmark) on the left as you ride from hawes easy to miss but theres a layby and a wall on the left hiding the tubs.not a busy road but steep drops and a cable crash barrier for the inexperienced idiot.
Best done from Thwaite - Hawes as you climb quite steeply with some very tight switchbacks etc. and a sheer drop to your left (barriered) as you climb up the pass.
This road is awesome, it makes the Stokesly - Helmsley road look like a nursery slope. Its quite short but very testing. 1st gear switchback hairpins, jumps, drop offs into corners and all on the side of a cliff! There would be a high price to pay for a silly mistake on this road!
Tight, twisty, bumpy very steep drops, not for the faint hearted, if your going fast over here you need your wits about you cos if you get it wrong it's gonna hurt big time.
yes that's the one - the nearest thing you'll get to an Alpine style pass in Yorkshire - quite simply stunning.
A very short ride but stunning views depending on the weather. It's a good ride out just getting there the roads around here are fantastic.
Is it that little grey road between Hawes and Thwaite? Is it unclassified?
Excellent riding, not particularly fast but you don't need speed to have fun. Great scenery too, you couldn't get much better really. Best done in a small group, large groups can get a little spread out, depending upon relative skill levels of those involved, or you can be on top of each other (literally almost) if you start pushing it! Still, do it and enjoy whenever and with whoever you can.
There are some nice bends on this short stretch in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. Can be be accessed from either the B6270, B6255 or the A684. Short but quite sweet.
