A good alternate to the A1 & A46, some nice sweeping bends, surface a little ropey at times - especially the staggered crossing at Collingham. Watch the bridge at Clifton can be deceptive at speed, the junction at A57 needs care during busy periods. The run from Torskey needs to be fast to make it really fun but watch some if the bends they can be deceptive - some nice scenery if you take a slower ride and once in Gainsborough head out to North Wheatly - a cracking route and the pub hosts bike nights in summer.
i use this as an alternative to the hum drum A1 to get home to north lincs. The section from newark to torksey lock is a fast route, with only a couple of villages along the route, been along this 4 times now, traffic never to high, and theres always opportunities to blast past. Police activity low, fast sweeping corners with straight sections. This joins after the scunthorpe the A159 to Scunthorpe, good fun also, some unmarked cars from Gainsborough though!
A good ride especially the part south of the A57. No spectacular corners but enough sweeping bends and dips to make it interesting. Comparatively few lorries and no police. Look out for level crossing south of Collingham with its offset crossing - take it easy in the wet!
i quite like the a1133 its quite near to where i live, not overcrowded like some derbyshire roads also it can be a bit of a flyer if you are in the mood, its a good link up to the a161 which is a better road to get up to yorkshire on.
A fast if unexciting road, you have to be travelling very fast to make it fun
An A road with lots of fast sweepers, some iteresting dips and not a lot of police activity.
