We are two guys who have limited time ( two days ) on BMW GS 1200. We will definately drive B500 ( black forest ) but what about other roads in the nearest area. There are lots of small country roads which connects to B500 or B28 like for example L94 or L401. Are they to slow or what, why do I never see anyone mention those?
Can anyone comment on those L roads or tell me if there is another road than B500 which we should aim at.
I find it hard to use the map on this site. why so many colors when there are only 3 ( Blue, red, purple ) which are mentioned for guidance.
Thanks a lot.
Gisli
P.s. anyone who comes with the perfect road earns himself a free advice about routes in Iceland : ) I have driven them all.....many times ;)
Hi Gisli,
Yes the B28 is also a nice one. There are many nice roads in the area of the B500. About the others, I don't know specifically.
i can thoroughly recommend that you cross over into France for the Alsace as well. A beautiful mountainous area that has higher elevations and is more wild than on the German side.

I particularly enjoyed the Col de la Schlucht and the roads around Mont St Odile. Far less busy and much less chance of cops than the B500

I have spent a lot of time in the area over the last 12 years and I could recommend many deviations from the B500, but there are too many to start listing them. Try to take the run from Furtwangen to Schramberg, using small roads. When you are in the Schramberg area it is usually worth to take a D-tour to Niedereschach and check out the Touratech headquarters. Food and drink in most village locations en route are fab. If I had the time I would join you...... Enjoy!
