This is a local short ride for me as I live nearby. It's very pleasant and Ambert is a lovely town with a large market every Thursday and several nice cafes/bars.

A group of us visit Vichy and ride this road at least once a year.
It can be very, very fast if you feel the need. Nice cafe in Ambert on the right as you get to the lights.
