Excited road surface and plenty of bends with clear visibility into most corners. Recommend doing this route in June, before the tourists with caravans rock up.
The road from the N-11 through Darnius and all the way to the French border is fantastic. Superb tarmac and a huge variety of corners on a road that undulates through dense forest. The road then starts to climb and the views get more and impressive. You can instantly tell youre crossing into France because the nice tarmac suddenly disappears. After a short distance from the border you pass through Coustouges and the road gets better again. Its not as wide and quite such good quality as the Spanish road but still great fun to ride and with bags of character. As you descend into France the landscape seems to change and it seems more rustic! You will eventually get to the D-115 junction, turn right to Arles, or for more adventure turn left and head back into Spain on another excellent road (already reviewed).
